Minority Welfare department complained against Sania Mirza
Tennis star Sania Mirza has found herself in the centre of another controversy over an ad film featuring her which was shot at the historic Mecca Masjid here. Police here received a complaint from the management of the historic Mecca Masjid here over tennis player Sania Mirza shooting for a commercial in its premises.
The manager in the Minority Welfare department, who is the custodian of the 17th century mosque, has complained that the commercial was shot without taking permission from the authorities, B Reddennna, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) told reporters.
He, however, said the commercial was filmed in the mosque compound, which was a public place, and the crew did not enter the place of worship.”They did not cause any disturbance. Anybody can take photos. It’s not prohibited. Sania was wearing full dress,” Reddenna said.The police official said the complaint was being examined and action will be taken in case of any violation of law.Meanwhile, Sania was not available for comments as she is away in Bangalore.
